About Me
Beryl Ann Buice“We are all just walking each other home” – Ram Dass
Journey Home Doula service is a custom, personalized service to support those at or near the end of life. A Doula is a non-medical support person who is the client’s personal advocate. We get to know the person as a whole and help to formulate their plan for the process of natural death.
Mission Statement
I AM a Sacred Passage Doula who is willing to have the difficult conversations about the dying process. I will be a steward of Conscious Death and a seeker of truth. I will walk with you on the path during this difficult part of the trail. I vow to honor the natural process of transition from this life.
My Background
My name is Beryl Ann Buice and I have served those near the end of life for the past 20 years. I have been a Registered Nurse working with Hospice as a Care Manager for 12 years. I also completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling and have experience with mental health and dementia. I also have been a professional Case Manager for disabled persons and have been their advocate for services.
A few years ago I attended the Conscious Dying Institute and learned about the role of Death Doula. It rang true with me and touched my heart. In the years since I have had numerous experiences with the death of friends and family. I knew there had to be a better way than our current medical business culture provides.
During that training, I vowed to serve to restore Death to its sacred place in the Circle of Life. Let me explain how I could assist you or your loved one.
What can a Death Doula DO?
A Death Doula is a non-medical service to provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support during natural death. The goals of a doula include increasing the contentment and comfort of the physical experience and being supportive of emotional and spiritual needs. A Doula can be present and support difficult and intense interactions and conversations. A Doula can provide logistical support to proceed toward the client’s chosen end-of-life goals.
I am also an experienced Hospice trained Registered Nurse. I can work with any Hospice team, carry out their care plan, and advocate for the client’s wishes and goals with family and medical providers. I can provide coordination of care with all your medical providers.
As a Nurse Care Manager, I can advocate for the client as my only priority. I will work for YOU, not any agency or business. We will create and guide your plan for the end-of-life transition. I have a good understanding of all the resources available to you. I will assist in problem solving and coordination of all services.
